THE OPPORTUNITY
This is where sustainability leaves the PowerPoint and enters the factory floor.
As Sustainability Manager, you will embed ESG into real operations across manufacturing sites. Think emissions, water, waste, compliance, and communities. All moving at once.
THE ROLE
You will lead execution of sustainability strategy across business units and plants.
You will:
Drive implementation of the company’s five sustainability pillars across operations.
Lead ESG reporting and ensure alignment with global frameworks such as GRI, ISSB, SASB, IFC, UNGC, and TCFD.
Oversee decarbonization initiatives including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, and efficiency programs.
Champion Environmental Management Systems including ISO 14001 implementation.
Lead circular economy initiatives such as waste reduction, recycling, and EPR programs.
Drive water stewardship projects focused on efficiency and community access.
Ensure environmental compliance including EIA, permits, and regulatory engagement with NESREA and other agencies.
Manage supply chain sustainability including audits, due diligence, and supplier engagement.
Oversee CSR initiatives across host communities.
Build partnerships with regulators, NGOs, and industry bodies.
Supervise sustainability teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Support climate finance and carbon credit opportunities.
Present sustainability performance to executive leadership.
WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR
You are both strategic and operational. You can design the system and still walk the plant floor.
You likely have:
BEng or BSc in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
6–9 years of experience in sustainability or ESG leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks and reporting standards.
Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Understanding of Nigerian and global environmental regulations.
Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments.
Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
